Experience Glodok Through Our Lens

Rooted in ongoing research and daily engagement with the neighborhood, our work in MET begins with walking, observing, and listening. These encounters shape how we understand Glodok’s layered histories, evolving culture, and the people who continue to define it.

Through public programs and guided walks, we share these reflections as opportunities to explore, learn, and connect with the neighborhood. Each initiative emerges from a continuous cycle of exploration, reflection, and creative response, approaching heritage
as something living and deeply connected to place.

Tours

We invite you to journey through the rich history and living culture of Jakarta’s Chinatown. Our tours are immersive experiences that guide you through distinctive landmarks, layered histories, and personal narratives that have shaped the neighborhood.

Rooted in local perspectives, we go beyond historical facts to share how Glodok is remembered, lived, and understood from within. From stories of migration and settlement to reflections on collective memory and enduring culinary traditions, each walk reveals the neighborhood as both a historical site and a living community.
